Valle del Cauca workshop advocates circular economy for sustainable agriculture

The agricultural community gathered at the “El Rosal” nursery in Tuluá, Valle del Cauca, for a pivotal workshop aiming to promote sustainable agricultural practices and embrace circular economy principles. With a diverse array of attendees, including farmers, producers, marketers, and entities supporting the primary sector, the event sought to foster collaboration and innovation within the organic fertilizer chain.

Amidst lush surroundings, participants engaged in discussions centered on three key objectives: promoting circular economy principles, enhancing collaboration across the organic fertilizer chain, and cultivating sustainability for future generations.

The imperative of converting waste into valuable resources resonated strongly among attendees, with emphasis placed on closing production and consumption cycles to minimize environmental impact.

Reflecting the region’s commitment to environmental preservation and agricultural productivity, the workshop showcased innovative initiatives led by Biofértil Vital. Through processes harnessing waste to produce certified fertilizers, the company exemplified the fusion of sustainability and agricultural advancement. Attendees gained valuable insights during a visit to Biofértil Vital’s composting plant, witnessing firsthand the innovative techniques driving organic fertilizer production.

As discussions unfolded, participants identified social and environmental issues crucial for the social life cycle analysis of RUSTICA’s fertilizers. Additionally, the workshop laid the groundwork for constructing a vision for the fertilizer chain in Valle del Cauca, reflecting on lessons learned from collaborative spaces.

The Valle del Cauca workshop served as a beacon of collaboration and innovation, signaling a collective commitment to champion circular economy principles and propel sustainable agriculture forward in the region.
