Stakeholders convene to advance strategic planning for bio-based fertiliser chain in Valle del Cauca

In an effort to promote sustainable agricultural practices, stakeholders gathered to review and provide feedback on the strategic planning process for the bio-based fertiliser chain in Valle del Cauca. The workshop aimed to recapitulate the Rustica Project’s progress and address gaps in the bio-based fertiliser chain from various perspectives.

With representation from 16 stakeholders including universities, research centers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the public sector, the workshop embodied a diverse spectrum of expertise.

From Almeria in Spain to Valle del Cauca in Colombia, regions involved in the Rustica Project collaborated to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities within the bio-based fertiliser chain.

Key discussions during the workshop revolved around diagnosing regional production nuclei, mapping chain structures, and envisioning future strategies in alignment with regulatory frameworks such as Law 811. Strategies to enhance productivity, develop markets, reduce transaction costs, and foster strategic alliances emerged as focal points of deliberation.

Concrete action plans were outlined for advancing sustainable agriculture. Responsible parties were designated, and yearly actions were set within specific timeframes, supported by monitoring and evaluation indicators. The workshop also delved into market research, providing valuable insights into production costs, market dynamics, historical trends, and future projections. These insights enriched strategic planning efforts aimed at promoting sustainability in agriculture.
