Regional workshop on sustainable agriculture in Friuli Venezia Giulia facilitates collaborative solutions

The recent regional workshop on sustainable agriculture, held in Italy, witnessed active participation from 19 individuals, 13 of whom represented various stakeholders. Drawing on expertise from diverse sectors within the BBF (Biomass-Based Fertilizers) value chain, stakeholders converged to address pressing challenges and foster innovation in agricultural practices.

The workshop began with welcoming remarks from the Knowledge Brokers of Friuli Venezia Giulia, setting a conducive tone and paving the way for fruitful discussions.

A highlight of the event was the spotlighting technological advancements and collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing sustainability in agriculture. Participants delved into the intricacies of pilot plant development, formulation of fertilizer mixtures, and validation processes.

Central to the workshop was an exploration of the robustness and replicability of regional business models. Through collaborative exercises, stakeholders assessed macro factors influencing the BBF business model, fostering a deeper understanding of its dynamics and potential impact. Attendees also gained insights into Italian national and FVG regional legislation pertaining to BBF, underscoring the importance of regulatory frameworks in driving sustainable agricultural practices. Further enriching the discourse, a Policy Brief exercise facilitated discussions on policy implications and strategic interventions, highlighting the pivotal role of policy in shaping sustainable agricultural practices.

As the workshop drew to a close, participants engaged in an evaluation session, providing valuable feedback to enhance future workshops and initiatives. Through structured questionnaires, stakeholders contributed insights and suggestions, reaffirming their commitment to collaborative action in advancing sustainable agriculture.
